Contagion (film review)
It reminded me of a 70’s disaster movie, where big actors get killed. Except this is not set in a skyscraper nor in a submerged boat. So all the dramatic tension of being trapped was just not here.
The film starts on Day 1 of the contagion; Day 0 is at the end of the film. There are endless scenes of faceless people from CDC/WHO all sat around tables watching video conferences around the world.
I could not have cared less for any of the characters in this film. Matt Damon acts like a block of butter and Larry Fishburne was just a fat guy in a mac. At one point I feared that the plot was going to revolve around a wife’s infidelity, that was going to be responsible for infecting the US. Jude Law is a blogger with an aussie accent and very bad teeth. His character is probably the only relief from the rest of the big-time cast.
Plot : humans ill - scientists find cure - humans cured
At the end I felt like I had just watched an AIDS Public Information film from the 90s.

Neil Colquhoun - podcaster
Neil is also a Scott Sigler Junkie like me and that’s where I came across his hybrid fantasy and horror work. As well as his written work he’s also podcasting; his Scottish accent certainly adds to the horror…
His latest work FRANK-Vol.01: Boiling Point is a tale about Frank a bounty hunter

Q: How many bikes?
A: Seven is good. a beater, a bomber, a single-speed, a touring bike, a lightish road bike, a do-all racked and bagged bike, a mixte, a loaner, and a work in progress.
Seven? Make it nine.
